McCain metamorphosis continues

So our erstwhile bestest buddy and big toe, former Senate voice of reason John McCain, gave a shout out to his newfound pals on the extreme right with his recent remark re: a stone in Bush's shoe called Venezuela.  He referred to "wackos" in Venezuela, among others nations on our er... Cheney's shit list, who are keeping us from our God-given right to exploit their oil for America's needs.  McCain, see, wants to end U.S. dependency on foreign oil by going back to nuclear power... cutesy talk which actually means, let's drill the fuck out of Alaska.

Venezuela's wacko veep, in turn, told McCain to go to hell, where he presumably will join apocalyptic dickhead Rev. Pat Robertson once that shriveled creep finally kicks the bucket.  You may remember wannabe president Robertson's revealing foray into foreign affairs when he recently endorsed the assassination of Venezuelan president Chávez to get at all that cheap oil via a puppet ahem... avert a justified war to free their people from the tyranny of a megalomaniacal head of state.  Ah, Christian diplomacy.

All that sweeping change, by the way, down in Latin America (Chávez, Morales in Bolivia, Bachelet in Chile, etc.) sure seems to bug the shit out of the Bushies, who can barely hide their contempt for the hoi polloi having any semblance of power.  Let the coup-plotting begin!

As for McCain, his blatant attempts to assert his Republican manhood and scoop the GOP nomination in '08 have led him down a dark path of compromised principles that might win over right-wing lunkheads (except for this one) but will lose him a good chunk of his moderate base support and what's left of the trust and respect he's earnestly tried to regain in the years since he got caught up in the S&L scandal.  A recent poll says otherwise, but polls are known to be wrong sometimes.
